AmePower Successfully Launches Groundbreaking UltraSine™ Compact Converter at InnoTrans 2024

Updated: Oct 2

AmePower's Successful Launch of UltraSine 1/2MW Bidirectional Multipurpose Ultra-Compact Converter

– Miami, FL – October 1, 2024

AmePower, a leader in propulsion inverter technology and converter modernizations, proudly announced the successful launch of its revolutionary UltraSine™ 1/2 MW bidirectional multipurpose converter at InnoTrans 2024. The world’s largest transportation trade fair, held from September 24-27, 2024, in Berlin, Germany, provided the perfect stage for AmePower to showcase UltraSine™ as part of the event’s exclusive Technology Innovation Tour, which highlights transformative innovations disrupting the rail industry.

During the expo, UltraSine™ received significant attention from industry leaders and transit authorities. The technology’s ability to deliver high power density, compact size, and unmatched reliability for rail applications—from light rail to heavy rail and locomotives—was widely praised. Notably, UltraSine™ is approximately the size of a microwave, making it 5x smaller and 7x lighter than traditional converters while still delivering 1/2 MW of power. Its ability to be stacked in parallel for higher power output further demonstrated its scalability and suitability for a wide range of rail applications.

Luis Contreras, CEO of AmePower, reflected on the event’s success:

“InnoTrans 2024 was an incredible platform to introduce UltraSine™ to the global rail industry. The response we received was overwhelmingly positive, and reaffirmed our belief that UltraSine™ is a game-changer for the future of rail technology. The interest in scalable, high-efficiency solutions like UltraSine™ shows that the industry is ready for the next generation of propulsion technology.”

Juan Muñoz, CTO of AmePower, added:

UltraSine™ solves critical challenges related to efficiency, power management and future obsolescence issues. By offering a scalable, modular, and future-proof converter, we can support transit agencies and manufacturers in maintaining high efficiency and operational reliability for years to come.”

UltraSine™ Key Features:

  • 1/2 MW Power Capacity: Multipurpose, bidirectional design optimized for traction inverters, auxiliary power, and power flow management in rolling stock.

  • Ultra-Compact Design: 5x smaller and 7x lighter than traditional converters, featuring advanced SiC modules or smart IGBTs for maximum efficiency.

  • Scalable Power Solutions: Units can be paralleled up to 6 MW, with modular plug-and-play design for easy maintenance and flexibility.

  • Future-Proof Technology: Eliminates obsolescence challenges through intelligent design, providing long-term solutions for transit systems.

AmePower also highlighted its commitment to providing comprehensive modernization services, including converter overhauls, refurbishment, and repairs. These services aim to ensure that aging fleets remain reliable, efficient, and future-ready.

InnoTrans Success and Next Steps

Following the successful debut of UltraSine™, AmePower is in discussions with several leading rail operators and manufacturers regarding pilot programs for integrating the UltraSine™ into existing and future fleets. The company plans to expand its partnerships and continue to meet the evolving demands of electric mobility and rail transportation.
